New 30 day challenge that will improve your health/lead to weight loss/cure all problems etc…

I keep seeing this stuff on my social media and I need to address something that is seriously wrong with our approach to health. 

As I’ve said before, I’m not a fan of 30 day plans. So let’s look at this one. 

 

The 30 day challenge

  • No burger (sic)
  • No chips
  • No ice cream
  • No fast food
  • No chocolate
  • No white bread
  • No soda
  • No cakes or donuts
  • No cookies or candy

CHALLENGE SOMEONE.

Let me assure you that it’s crap like this that makes you more likely to fail. 

Putting restrictions on yourself like this only highlights to your brain the things that you “can’t have”. A scarcity mindset is one that will encourage rebellion and a feeling of failure when you ultimately give in.

Ok, let me ask you. Has this approach ever worked for you before? 

Cos I’m betting that if it has, you wouldn’t be reading this. 


The truth is these challenges are put together by people looking for attention on social media, bragging about their self control and pretending to understand about health, fitness, wellness and weight loss. 

 

What to do instead

 

Work on easy to manage changes. 

Changes to your daily habits that will lead to actual results. 

Despite what the diet industry will tell you, we do not thrive on rules, restrictions and short term plans. 

We do best focusing on long term change caused by modifying our behaviour one step at a time. 

Yes it takes longer, but aren’t you tired of dieting in the short term and failing in the long term?
